新入生自己紹介 Rahmatika Dewi(M1)

次はインドネシア出身のDewiさんに自己紹介をお願いしました。

I am Rahmatika Dewi from Indonesia. This is my first-year master course in Hiroshima University. I entered graduate school for International Development and Cooperation (IDEC) under Professor Tatsuya Kusakabe supervision in April 2018.

My research interest is about communication skill development of Polytechnic students. For my master thesis I am going to focus on English skill development of Polytechnic students in which I will investigate the programs held by Polytechnics in developing their students’ English skill as well as the students’ motivation in developing it. The topic chosen came from three issues raise in the world and in Indonesia especially. Those are globalization, economic growth in Indonesia, and Asean Economic Community (AEC). Those three issues influence each other. Globalization era gives effects in some sectors such as economy, politic, education, technology sector, etc. And it gives a good impact for economic growth in Indonesia. Based on the data got from Indonesia Central Bureau of Statistics economic growth in Indonesia shows a good improvement in which in 2015 it was 4.79 % then grew up to 5.02 % in 2016 and reached 5.07% in 2017. One of the sources of the growth is from industries. It has a close relation with the next issue in Indonesia. That is Asean Economic Community (AEC) program in which it has 10 countries in south-east Asia as the members. One aspect of AEC is allowing the free market (flow of goods), services, investment, and skilled workers of industry. As the result the foreign companies are mushrooming in Indonesia as well as foreign skilled workers. Therefore, the need of competent, skilful, and qualified workers is increasing in Indonesia. And this is such a challenge especially for higher education to prepare their students to face the competition in getting job or being entrepreneur. One of the skills needed is communication skill. And in this study as I am an English lecturer in a Polytechnic I am going to study English skill development in Polytechnics as I mentioned before. That is a brief introduction about me and my research. However, since I am still in the beginning of preparing my research, I need to make some improvements later and I also need some suggestions from my supervisor and colleagues.
